Rowena Wise is a Melbourne/Naarm-based artist whose ruminations on love, alienation, and self-empowerment are fast catching attention. Described by CLASH as “carefully etched indie folk” after having teased a few brilliant singles, she’s finally announcing her stunning new album, Senseless Acts of Beauty.

Naarm/Melbourne-based “gentle and tender” (Anika Luna, Triple J) indie artist DARVID THOR (he/him) reminds us of the importance of self-generating reflection with ‘Changing Shape’; a song detailing the malleability of memories and our unmoored identities as a result.

Darvid Thor announces his signing to Naarm/Melbourne label Beloved Recordings and presents his first single and video, ‘To Remember Yourself’. Garnering support from Beach Fossils and Danger Mouse around his 2019 debut ‘I’m Never Really Here’, Darvid ushers us into familiar corners with his new track; places that speak to the totality of adulthood and the congestions of experience.

ROWENA WISE (fka Ro) brings in the New Year with the aptly titled ‘New Years’, a devastating reflection on change and letting go. It’s that “slow-drip feeling of falling apart when you know you’re about to say goodbye, even though your heart is still completely in it”, says Rowena.

Hailed as a “lyrical assassin” by the Australian triple j community, Rowena’s storytelling is like a close friend, offering heady ruminations on love, loss and alienation while giving gentle echoes of courage and empowerment.

Back in August, we celebrated the launch of Beloved Recordings alongside the first track from Lewis Coleman’s new record, Offline. We held it at our home ground The Evelyn Hotel in Fitzroy, a rock and staple for so many of our early gig experiences growing up in Melbourne’s music community. It was a true pleasure to bring this thing into the world with so many beloved friends and family, we’re all warmed and energised and can’t wait to bring you more memories like this.
